University Testing

Two new FairTest Fact Sheets on university admissions testing are now available. The GRE: Myths, Misuses, and Alternatives and “Healthy” Medical School Admissions Without the MCAT are packed with information about these over-used exams. The new Fact Sheets highlight how the Graduate Record Exam and the Medical College Admissions Test block opportunities for otherwise qualified applicants, do a poor job of predicting graduate and medical school performance, and are misused in admissions and financial aid. Alternative selection criteria are also proposed. A copy of the Fact Sheets can be found here, or send a self-addressed, business-sized stamped envelope with a note indicating “GRE,” “MCAT,” or both to: FairTest, 15 Court Square, Suite 820, Boston, MA 02108.
