Another Wisconsin Victory

K-12 Testing

The Wisconsin state legislature has eliminated much of the funding for the proposed state graduation test. This follows a successful parent-led campaign to eliminate the high-stakes requirement attached to the planned test (see Examiner, Summer 1999). The effect will be at least a two-year postponement in test implementation. While some legislators pointed to the state’s financial crunch, many others clearly opposed the test itself. Testing opponents vowed to use the delay to completely eliminate the exam.
